when colby is born, her mother dies. and her father hates her for it. despises the newborn baby quiet and wide eyed in his arms. he wants nothing to do with her; however, instead of abandoning her – instead of giving her to the system or giving her up for adoption – he does something so much worse.when colby and her small child body are seven, her father decides to make ‘use’ of her. he throws her into an underground fighting ring for youths under eighteen. it’s horrible. even at such a young age, colby as come to expect nothing for her dad; however, during her first fight, she presses against the wall of the cage and begs and cries for him. screams for him to save her.her opponent is twice her age and twice her size. they have no qualms with slamming her, head first, into the ground below before jamming kicks into her ribs and stomach until she throws up all over their boots.the next few fights are very much the same.get the shit beat out of her. come back from the brink of death. repeat.repeat, repeat, repeat.it takes five instances resigned surrender before seven year old colby comes to a decision. a boiling point within herself. she’ll play her father’s game. she’ll fight. but as soon as she grows strong enough – old enough – she’s leaving this damn place. and then she’s killing that ugly excuse for a parent.she will not die a caged animal.ten years she waits. she uses the fights to hone her abilities. learns that, sometimes, throwing the dirty punch is better than preserving your own pride. but it’s not a low blow that meets her father’s skull. it’s a bullet from the stolen gun snagged from under his own pillow.she’s all hot tears and shaky hands as colby takes back what’s rightfully hers – the thousands and thousands of dollars her father has made over the years because of her. because of betting.play stupid games, get stupid rewards.from then on, she’s been hunting. coast to coast, continent to continent, colby has been taking down those connected to and who remind her of her father. it’s led her to take down people associated with groups like hydra or the ten rings. it’s also led her to work with avengers as well as other super abled people. fury knows of her existence and often calls upon her for dirtier work, but she is not an official asset of shield.

colby’s marvel verse is considered her main verse. it’s where all of her original story takes place.

colby’s dc verse isn’t very different from her main verse. what happens leading up to the present is all very much the same; however, in this verse, she’s more likely to take up the vigilante mantel instead of taking the path of mercenary. it honestly depends on the company she keeps around, and who she lets influence her. in her main dc verse, she is heavily affiliated with lanterslight.

colby’s the boys verse is the most different out of her current ones. everything leading up to the fight ring still happens, but that’s where the similarities stop. compound v trickles its way into the ring. by the time colby is in her late teens, it’s running rampant in the underground. injected into too many kids to count. it makes the fights more exciting, she hears her dad say one day. he even makes sure she gets some herself. the excruciating pain leaves behind the ability to slip into a state between corporeal and supernatural. silent. invulnerable for a bit. it’s what keeps her alive when vought eventually realizes they should clean up their mess. they blow up the facility the ring is under to bury any evidence. to bury the kids. her dad. colby is the only survivor. those her thought her dead are surprised later in life when she comes knocking for vengeance. a ghost haunting the living. a wraith. it’s the name she’s given in this verse. not parricide. she spends her days eliminating anyone with ties to the ring who weren’t at the facility that fateful night. she also has a vendetta against vought.

in this verse, colby is once again raised by her single father. her mother died when she was young, perishing during a skirmish between witcher and demon in their small village. because of that, her father who was driven by anger, raised her to hunt and fight demons. to replace the witchers. he didn't understand why they sent demons to kill demons. with the knowledge she learns, colby ends his life swiftly. he taught her to fight monsters when he was one himself. now she roams the lands looking for work. and, perhaps, looking for witchers. not to kill them -- but to observe them.

this verse was created to co-exist with batcaller's bodyguard au, hence the name. here, colby isn't the one doing the protecting. she is the one important enough to need it. in this verse, she has used her anger in a different way than in her main verse. in her main verse, she uses it to fuel her quest for vengeance. she tracks anyone known to have funded or used the ring and ends them as she sees fit. in her bodyguard verse, her focus is more on the other kids she left behind. she has worked and gathered enough resources to run her own operations. ones that involve sneaking children out of the ring or out of the red rooms it also houses. her actions have developed a huge target on her back, and while she is still well physically trained, she is smart enough to hire extra security. this is bigger than her after all.
